Finding your size

Rings and chains are worth measuring rather than guessing. It takes a minute and a strip of paper, and it's the difference between wearing something and putting it in a drawer.

Rings

Measuring at home

Cut a thin strip of paper, wrap it around the base of the finger, and mark where it overlaps. Lay it flat against a ruler — the length in millimetres is your circumference. Find it in the table below.

Two things matter more than the measuring: measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and check that the strip will pass over your knuckle. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of the finger, take the larger of the two.

Between two sizes, go up. A ring that spins slightly is wearable; one that won't go on isn't.

Already have a ring that fits? Measure the inside diameter across the middle in millimetres and multiply by 3.14 — that's the circumference to look up.

Chains & necklaces

Chain lengths and where each sits
LengthWhere it sits
16" / 40 cmAt the base of the neck, like a choker
18" / 45 cmOn the collarbone — the most common length
20" / 50 cmJust below the collarbone
22" / 55 cmAt the top of the neckline
24" / 60 cmOn the breastbone, over most tops

To measure, hold a tape or string where you'd like the chain to sit and bring it round the back of your neck. If you layer chains, leave at least two inches between lengths so they don't tangle.

Pendants hang below the chain, so a pendant necklace sits lower than a plain chain of the same length.

Bracelets & bangles

Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist, just below the wrist bone, and mark the overlap. For a bracelet, add about 1.5 cm to that measurement for a comfortable drape — more if you like it loose.

A bangle doesn't open, so the measurement that matters is your hand, not your wrist: press your thumb into your palm and measure round the widest part of your closed hand. The bangle has to pass over that.

Earrings

Earrings don't need sizing, but the measurement on each product page is worth reading — a 40 mm hoop and a 60 mm hoop are very different things to wear. Where a size is listed, it's the outside diameter for hoops and the drop length for anything that hangs.
